Drummond, C & Ghodse, H (1999) Use of investigations in the diagnosis and management of alcohol use disorders. APT, 5, 366–375. The second paragraph, first column, p. 368 should read: "The specificity of a test is the extent to which it only identifies ‘true negatives’ and minimises ‘false positives’. In the same hypothetical screening study, a test that has a specificity of 90% will correctly classify 90% of ‘true negatives’ as not misusing alcohol." The authors apologise for any confusion that may have arisen.
