Re: Dehumanization of the mentally ill

Thank you for this insightful article. I am an English Literature major doing an essay on Sylvia Plath's short story, "Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams", with the research angle of the dehumanization of the mentally ill. This article helped me tackle this subject, which is a fond subject of my own, as I have a diagnosis of chronic, undifferentiated schizophrenia. The media has constantly misinterpreted the mentally ill, and I would recommend Oyebode's article to anyone faced with the injustice done to us "consumers" (what a vulgar word). Even if, as I suspect, this will not be published on the site, I still would like to congratulate Oyebode for exemplary work! Thanks.
